The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police nabbed an active member of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from the capital’s Kuril Biswa Road area on Tuesday.

The arrestee, Akramuzzaman alias Abu Asem Al Mahdi, 21, who hails from Kalapara in Patuakhali, was on the run from police in relation to a case filed with Shivalaya Police Station in Manikganj under Anti-Terrorism Act-2009.

Mohammad Aslam Khan, superintendent of police (Media and Awareness Wing) of the ATU, disclosed the information to the Daily Sun on Wednesday.

The SP said that he passed Dawra from Jamia Ashrafia Arabia Madrasa at Mohammadpur in the city.

Mahdi was working to recruit new members for the ABT, also known as Ansar Al Islam, said the police officer.
