Different associate bodies of the ruling Awami League on Wednesday demanded immediate arrest of BNP leader Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal for his derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In a statement, Awami Swechchasebak League (ASL) demanded the arrest of ‘insane’ Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Alal and to ensure exemplary punishment for making the outrageous remarks.

“Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Alal should be brought to book for his ‘dirty, indecent, derogatory and communal’ statement that went viral on Facebook,” a press release of ASL said.

The ASL, an associate body of the ruling Awami League, also claimed the vulgar comment against the head of the government is violation of political decency and also a punishable offence.

ASL acting president Gazi Mesbahul Hossain Sachchu and general secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu in the statement said Alal intentionally delivered the speech to malign the premier.

In separate statements, Dhaka South City Unit of Awami League also demanded arrest of Alal.

Dhaka South City AL President Abu Ahmed Mannafi and its General Secretary Humayun Kabir said BNP Leader Alal`s remarks on the Prime Minister were out of political norms.

The High Court on Tuesday ordered the authorities concerned to remove all videos of the BNP leader in which he made indecent comments regarding the prime ministers of Bangladesh and India.

A Dhaka University student filed a case against Alal with Shahbagh police on Tuesday for making indecent comments about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian premier Narendra Modi.

Another student lodged a complaint to the police station over the same matter.
