The Month of Victory

Retreating Pak troops: Arms and ammunitions left behind by Pak troops at Hardinge Bridge over the river Padma on December 12, 1971. Indian troops launched a massive attack with the support from the IAF, which forced the Pak troops to retreat in a hurry. The retreating troops also destroyed the Hardinge Bridge.

The Refugee Crisis: Following the genocide unleashed by West Pakistan, millions of refugees from East Pakistan fled for safety to India. The major influx of refugees occurred between 25 March and December 15, 1971. In this period, a total of 98,99,305 refugees sought shelter in various states in India. Here, a refugee camp is under construction in India.
