Family happy with verdict

The family members of slain BUET student Abrar Fahad have expressed satisfaction with the verdict of the speedy trial tribunal in the murder case.

Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah, who was present in the court during the delivery of the judgment, said, “If the verdict is upheld in the High Court, we will get peace.”

Mofazzal Hossain, Abrar’s uncle who accompanied Barkat Ullah, said, “We expect the decision of the trial court will be upheld in the High Court. We are not worried.”

The victim’s mother, Rokeya Khatun, and his younger brother Abrar Fayaz also expressed satisfaction with the verdict.

Talking to journalists, Rokeya said, “We would like to express our satisfaction with the verdict and call for the sentences to be carried out quickly.”

“We wanted all of them to receive the death sentence. I respect the court’s decision. But, we also want Amit Saha to hang.”

She, however, said, “I will finally feel that we have received justice on the day these sentences are executed.”

Expressing satisfaction, Fayaz said, “I have not seen the entire verdict yet. We will examine the final verdict and decide what steps to take.”
