Srijit Mukherji plans to make Shakib’s biopic

Renowned Indian director Srijit Mukherji on Wendesday said that he will make the biopic of Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

The famous Kolkata director on Wednesday came to Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur with his wife Bangladeshi actress Mithila to witness Shakib Al Hasan's batting in the final day of the second Test match between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

He also expressed his desire to make film on former Bangladesh cricket team captains Raqibul Hasan and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza while talking to journalists.

“Of course, I have a desire to make a movie on Shakib.  I wonder why there is no movie about Shakib yet. He is a world class all-rounder. I am eager in making his biopic,” Srijit said.

“Cricket is my first love. Cricket always encourages me more than anything.  I hope I will do something about cricket in Bangladesh soon”, he added.

Srijit Mukherji has also directed a film on cricket titled ‘Shabaash Mithu’, based on the life of the current Test and ODI captain of the India women’s national cricket team Mithali Raj. Taapsee Pannu starred in the film as titular role. The film is scheduled to be released in theatre in February 2022.

The film director is visiting Bangladesh to meet his in-laws in Dhaka. He married Bangladeshi actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila in 2019.
