Persistent rain due to the impact of cyclone storm Jawad spoiled the second day’s play of the second and last Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan as only 6.2 overs play was possible to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.
Pakistan batters – Babar Azam and Azhar Ali were successful to see off those overs bowled by Bangladeshi pacer duo – Ebadot Hossain and Abu Jayed without any causality as the visitors finished the day at 188-2.
The day’s play, which was scheduled to start at 09:30am, finally got underway at 12:50pm after the lunch break but the rain again forced to stop the game only after 30 minutes of play in the second session. Both the umpires finally decided to call off the day’s play at 03:00pm as the rain continued to pour.
Pakistan earlier made 161-2 in 57 overs at stumps of the opening day after they won the toss and elected to bat first.
The visitors are currently leading the two-match Test series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Chattogram by eight wickets.
