The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has unravelled the mystery surrounding the murder of a female domestic worker in the capital.
The specialised unit also arrested Syed Samina Hasan, 60, and her husband Syed Jasimul Hasan, 63, in relation to the murder from her Niketon residence in Gulshan-1 neighbourhood on Saturday.
Police recovered the body of the domestic help, Parveen alias Fency Ara, 30, wife of Mohammad Mominul, from Jhauban under Diabari in Turag on December 2, but could not identify the body at that moment. Later, they managed to discover her identity and learned that she worked at Jasimul’s house.
The police official said on the morning of December 1, Samina and Fency were locked in a bitter dispute over the affair. At one stage Samina hit her in the head with a stick several times, leaving her dead on the spot.
Afterwards, Jasimul, Samina and their driver Ramjan Ali carried the body to their private car and dumped it in Jhauban. A murder case was filed against them with Turag Police Station on Friday.
During preliminary interrogation, they confessed to their complicity in the murder.
In response to a question if there was really an affair between the victim and Jasimul, Jahangir Alam said Samina suspected so, but had no proof. About the arrest of Ramjan, he said that they were hunting for the driver.
According to the officer, after a few days of her job, Jasimul did not allow Mominul to meet her.
A few months ago, Fency phoned him and alleged that she was subjected to torture and held in confinement.
Later, Mominul lodged a general diary (GD) with Gulshan Police Station. In October, he went to the house of the employers and managed to meet his wife finally. Later, he went off to his native village.
Mominul said that the employer paid him Tk 1,000 every month by bKash.
