Two ‘robbers’ killed in Bhola ‘gunfight’

Two suspected robbers were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Char Kukri Mukri in Charfashion upazila of Bhola district on Sunday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Shakhawat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Dakkhin Aicha Police Station, said acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted a drive at ward no 1 under Mukuria union beside Jalia beel around 4:00am.

Sensing the presence of the elite force members, the robbers opened fire on them, forcing the RAB men to hit back which triggered the gunfight.

At one stage, two robbers were caught in the line of fire and killed on the spot while the others managed to flee the scene.

A pistol and some local arms were recovered from the spot.

At first, the bodies were taken to the police station and later sent to hospital morgue.
