BNP doesn’t want Khaleda Zia’s recovery: Hasan

Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud has alleged that BNP doesn’t want Khaleda Zia’s recovery for its own political benefits.

“Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) does not want Khaleda Zia’s recovery, they want her to keep in the hospital so that the party can get the opportunity to do politics,” he said.

Hasan, also the information and broadcasting minister, made the comments while talking to reporters at his official residence in the capital on Friday.

Hasan Mahmud said actually BNP is looking for issues to wage movement.

“The BNP thought that they would be able to bring its activists to the streets over Khaleda Zia’s treatment issue, but in reality, the workers did not respond to their call,” he said.

“Even, they want to create an issue by exaggerating Khaleda Zia’s health condition. But the attempt failed as Khaleda Zia has been getting better treatment at the hospital. The government vows to do what doctors want for her better treatment,” he added.

Replying to an allegation of BNP leaders that the government is destroying the healthcare system of the country, the information minister said Covid-19 pandemic has proven how good the country’s health system is.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has been able to tackle the deadly bug much better than many developed countries,” he said.

Referring to the BNP’s torch procession, Hasan said people get panicked when BNP brings out a torch procession, the country’s people get panicked thinking that are setting fire again.

“The BNP is behaving like a parasite. Sometimes, they are trying to create chaos in the country shouldering on the student movement and sometimes on the garment workers,” he said.
