Chargé d' Affaires of UAE Embassy in Dhaka Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi has said the relationship between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well as among people of the two countries has been expanded in various areas beyond the political, economic and defence partnership in recent years.

He also hoped that the existing excellent relations between the two countries would be further expanded in depth and various dimensions in the coming days.

AlHmoudi made the remark while addressing a reception on the occasion of the 50th National Day of the UAE on Wednesday.

In his welcome speech, he also said, “This year, both UAE and Bangladesh are celebrating Golden Jubilee of our establishment.”

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque attended the virtual celebration as the chief guest while a number of dignitaries and friends of UAE took part in the event.

Ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, ministers, members of parliament, high government officials, businesspersons, media personalities, and personalities from academic and social institutions also attended the ceremony.

Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi mentioned the remarkable achievements of the UAE over the past 50 years and also highlighted the glorious journey of five-decade ties with Bangladesh.

‘‘We are celebrating 50 years of accomplishments and achievements of our remarkable journey from the past till today and the world witnessed tremendous transformative change of UAE that we have done over the years. To recognise the efforts, the UNESCO has also adopted the UAE National Day as World Futures Day and all countries of the world will celebrate UAE National Day as World Futures Day,’’ Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi said.

On this historic occasion, AlHmoudi said the world’s greatest show, ongoing Expo 2020 Dubai, showcases human achievements in many fields, with the participation of more than 192 countries, companies, organisations and educational institutions.

Recalling Bangladesh and the UAE's founding fathers, he said, “The solid foundation of our bilateral relations was laid by our founding fathers and we are expecting more reciprocal deeper engagement in the broader areas.”
