Civil aviation ministry honours Crack Platoon members

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has honoured heroic freedom fighters of Crack Platoon for their courageous role in 'Operation Hit and Run' during the Liberation War.

Marking Mujib Year, the ministry conferred the honour in association with Hotel InterContinental on the hotel premises in the capital on Saturday.

Those who were given awards are: Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram, Habibul Alam Bir Pratik, Ali Ahmed Ziauddin Bir Pratik, Abdus Samad Bir Pratik, Shaheed Abu Bakar Bir Bikram, Munir Alam Mirza Badal and Khaza Nizamuddin and Shaheed Osman, two staff members of Intercontinental.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan was present as the chief guest while State Minister for Civil Aviation Md Mahbub Ali and Parliamentary Committee Chairman Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury were special guests.

Civil Aviation Secretary Mokammel Hossain presided over the meeting.

Crack Platoon was a special commando team of the Mukti Bahini which was formed in 1971 during the Liberation War. It was comprised of young members of Mukti Bahini which carried out commando operations in Dhaka.
