‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ hits theatre today

Rezwan Shahriar Sumit’s directorial debut film ‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ (The Salt in our Waters) will be released in theatre across the country today.

The feature film will be released on four branches of Star Cineplex, Blockbuster Cinemas,  Shyamoli Cinema Hall in Dhaka, CineScope in Narayanganj, Silver Screen and Sugandha Cinema Hall in Chattogram and Modhuban Cineplex in Bogura. 

On the eve of the theatre release a gala premiere show of the film was held in Star Cineplex, SKS Tower on Thursday. Veteran actors Asaduzzaman Noor, Alamgir, writer Syed Manzoorul Islam, Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murad Hassan, State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam and many other dignitaries attended the show along with the cast & crew of the film.

 A special screening of the movie was also held on Thursday at the Projection Hall of the Bangladesh Film Archive for the journalists and media personalities. 

Earlier, two special screenings of the film were held for the fishermen community of Potuakhali district on November 22 and 23. Almost 1200 audience watched the film. 

 The film ‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ tells the story of the lives and struggles of fishermen in a remote coastal village of the country. When a sculptor visits the place, he finds himself center stage in a primal and elemental conflict between land and sea, man and nature, past and future.

Popular actors Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shatabdi Wadud, Titas Zia, Tasnova Tamanna, Ashok Bepari are playing the lead roles in the film. The music of the film is directed by Shayan Chowdhury Arnob.

To note: ‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ was screened in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) on November 8. The film also participated in several international festivals, including, Busan International Film Festival, London International Film Festival and Kolkata International Film Festival.
