Mujib Year and Golden Jubilee Bangla Film Fest begins in Sydney

First ever Bangla Film Festival titled ‘Mujib Year and Golden Jubilee Bangla Film Fest, Sydney 2021’ began in Australia’s largest city Sydney on Tuesday. Bangladesh Consulate General in Sydney has been organised the six-day festival to commemorate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence.

The inaugural ceremony of the festival was held at 06:30pm on the day. Consul General at Consulate General of Bangladesh in Sydney, Khandker Masudul Alam delivered welcome address at the inaugural ceremony. 

The film festival began with the screening of the film ‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’ at the Hoyts Entertainment Quarters at Moore Park, Sydney.

‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’ is a docudrama directed by Piplu Khan based on the life of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.

The festival will continue till November 28.

 Two other films ‘Fagun Haway’, a National Film Award-winning film set against the backdrop of the great language movement of Bangladesh, will be screened on November 27 in Hoyts Blacktown cinemas.

And the feature film ‘Sphulinga’ will be screened at the same theatre on November 28. The liberation war's story and the spark of the current generation will be explored in the film.

BongOz Films, Australia is providing technical assistance to the consulate in organising the festival.
