Senior journalist Shamim Mashreki, also a permanent member of Dhaka Union of Journalists and Jatiya Press Club, died of cardiac arrest on Monday. He was 55.
Shamim, the advisory editor of Districtnews24, suffered cardiac arrest while he was returning home by train at Ishwarganj under Mymensingh district.
He left behind his wife, 7-year-old son and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Shamim is the son of renowned writer Andul Hye Mashreki, who gained fame for his lyric ‘Allah Megh De Chaya De’.
He was laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Ishwarganj following his namaz-e-janaza on Tuesday.
DUJ President Quddus Afrad and General Secretary Sajjad Alam Khan Tapu, Jatiya Press Club Acting President Hasan Hafiz and General Secretary Elias Khan expressed deep shock at his death and they also prayed for the salvation of his departed soul.
