The country’s football legend and Swadhin Bangla Football Team member Enayetur Rahman Khan praised the environment, quality, and facilities of the Bashundhara Sports Complex while making a sudden visit in response to an invitation from Bashundhara Kings president Imrul Hassan on Monday.

“I know nothing about Bangladesh football. Perhaps, I watched a practice match this morning (Monday) after 23 or 24 years at the Dhanmondi ground between Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Chattogram Abahani Limited. Later, I came here to watch the match between Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings and Uttar Baridhara Club at the Bashundhara Sports Complex where the Kings played a 4-4 draw with their neighboring club. I think the quality of the match here at Bashundhara, its teams and environment of the venue and other facilities of this match is far better,” Enayetur told the reporters.

“Truly speaking, I never analysed Bangladesh football, I never thought about it in the last 27 years.  But as a footballer I can say the Bashundhara ground is really beautiful and very impressive,” he said.

Enayet, along with another former national football star Gaffer Chowdhury visited the Bashundhara Sports Complex.

Later, Kings president Imrul, who is also the first vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation, honored them by gifting crests and Bashundhara Kings jerseys.

“I don’t have any thoughts or comments about the country’s football and its future. I just came to visit here. I have no plans to be involved with football again,” the former footballer ended.    However, Enayetur Rahman was also the first goalscorer for Bangladesh national football team (after the independence) in their maiden international match in Mardeka Cup against Thailand in 1973. He played for Victoria Sporting Club, WAPDA, BJMC and Mohammedan SC before retirement in 1978.
