Tamim ruled out of NZ series

Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal is ruled out of their upcoming tour of New Zealand due to a thumb injury, a Bangladesh Cricket Board official informed on Monday.

The opener recently went to England to take advice from a physician for the thumb injury that he sustained while playing in the Everest Premier League in Nepal.

“He (Tamim) met the physician today and they have advised him to take a one-month rest though he won’t require any surgery,” BCB Chief Physician Debashish Chowdhury told The Daily Sun. “In that case, he’s missing the New Zealand tour,” he added.

Shakib Al Hasan won’t also be part of Bangladesh’s touring party in New Zealand as he already asked for a leave from the BCB at that time.

Bangladesh are scheduled to play two Tests during their series against New Zealand in January which will also be part of the ICC Test Championship.
