The verdict in a case filed over the murder of six students at Amin Bazar on the outskirts of Dhaka in 2011 is set to be delivered on December 2.

Judge Ismat Jahan of the Second Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Monday fixed the date upon the completion of the closing arguments from both sides.

The court also cancelled bail of 51 out of total 58 defendants and sent them to jail.

During the closing arguments, the prosecution told the court that they were able to prove the charges against all the accused and sought capital punishment for them.

However, the defence sought acquittal of their clients during their agreements.

Earlier, the court recorded statements of 55 prosecution witnesses, including complainant of the case.

According to the case, on the night of Shab-e-Barat on July 18, 2011, seven friends who were students of different schools and colleges in Dhaka had taken a trip to Bardeshi village near Aminbazar Bridge in Savar.

Accusing the students of being robbers, a mob of villagers beat six students to death.

Al Amin, who was also with them, is the lone survivor.
