Rokeya Prachy returns to big screen

National Film Award-winning actress Rokeya Prachy has enthralled the audience with her fabulous performance over the years. She is a successful actor both in the theatre and television.  

Rokeya Prachy got breakthrough in Morshedul Islam’s film ‘Dukhai’ in 1997. Then, she has appeared in several popular movies, including, ‘Matir Moina’, ‘Moner Manush’, ‘Ontarjatra’ and ‘Doob’.  

After a long break, the versatile artiste is back to the silver screen with the government-funded film ‘Sabitri’. The movie is being directed by Pantho Prosad. Prachy has already started shooting for the film. She will be seen as a lawyer of War Crimes Tribunals in the movie. 

The movie ‘Sabitri’ granted government funds in the 2016.  

About her new venture, Prachy said, “My last film was Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s ‘Doob’. After that, I didn’t act in any new films. During the corona epidemic, I started directing a documentary on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which is now on hold. The story of the movie ‘Sabitri’ is to my liking; that’s why I’ve signed the film.  I also love my character in film. I hope it will be a good movie.”

Apart from the film, Prachy will also be seen in a web film. The filming of the film will begin soon. It may be mentioned that, four documentaries have been made under the banner of her production house on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Among them, she has directed and acted in the docu-film ‘Juddho Ebong Birangona’.
