Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings roped in former national player of Bosnia and Herzegovina Stojan Vranjes to their folds for the upcoming season 2021-22.

The 35-year-old midfielder arrived in Dhaka and completed signing formalities on Saturday, Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hassan confirmed the development to The Daily Sun.

“He arrived in Dhaka on Saturday. The signing ceremony will be completed within two or three days. We saw him (Vranjes) playing in both midfield and forward positions that is quite similar to our Robson Azevedo da Silva Robinho. Hopefully, it can be a great benefit for the club,” Imrul said.

Vranjes, who was bought from Bosnian Club Fudbalski klub Borac Banja Luka, is going to be the first European footballer to play for the club.

However, the club authority hadn’t disclosed his signing amount, but an online source, named Football Transfers, claimed his current market value is approximately 0.2 million euro.

Vranjes was brought in the place of Argentine forward Raul Becerra. Though Becerra was a striker, the club officials believe that the former Bosnian national player can able to play both roles -- playmaker and finisher.

Meanwhile, Vranjes played a total of three matches for Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2009 to 2012. Also, he played one match for U-21s in 2007 and three matches for U-17 in 2002.

Though Vranjes had a short experience in national teams, he had a vast club career since 2005. In the 16-year club career, the midfielder played for different European clubs and major European competitions under UEFA including Champions League qualifiers, Europa League, and Conference Leagues.
