Bangladesh, UAE hold JEC meeting in Dhaka

Fifth Session of the Bangladesh-United Arab Emirates Joint Commission was held in Dhaka on Monday to enhance bilateral cooperation and trade ties.

The meeting was co-chaired by Bangladesh Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and UAE’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.

 The meeting was held in a hybrid (face-to-face and virtual) format where both team leaders joined virtually, says a release.

The meeting was attended by high-level government officials from the esteemed Ministries and relevant Institutions of both countries.

The two sides reviewed the issues of the various areas of bilateral cooperation and identified a number of fields such as bilateral trade, economic development and commerce; labor and employment and consular relation; civil aviation, tourism and culture; and investment opportunities.

Discussions were also held on increased support of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD); power, energy and mineral resources; information and communication technology (ICT); education, science and technology;  marine environment and development; agriculture, health services & health education, and humanitarian and charitable areas.

The session of the Joint Committee on cooperation between the two countries was held in the spirit of understanding, friendship and mutual respect.

The two team leaders virtually signed the agreed minutes on behalf of their respective sides.

Both sides agreed to hold the sixth meeting of the Joint Commission on cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi. The date of the next session will be fixed later on.
