A symposium was held at Armed Forces Medical Institute (AFMI) auditorium in Dhaka Cantonment on Monday to observe World Diabetes Day.

Department of Endocrinology of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) organised the programme with an objective to create awareness among the people regarding the disease.

Directorate General of Medical Services Major General Md Mahbubur Rahman was present in the programme as the chief guest.

Chairman of the Department of Endocrinology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Prof Md Farid Uddin, Head of Department of Endocrinology of CMH Brigadier General Md Anwarul Kabir and Prof Col Md Sarwar Khan presented the keynote paper of the programme.

CMH Commandant Brigadier General Taufiqul Hasan Siddiqui delivered the welcome speech at the event.

AFIP Commandant Major General Susane Giti, Director General of the Directorate General of Drug Administration Major General Md Mahbubur Rahman, Consultant Surgeon General Major General AKM Musa Khan, Consultant Physician General Major General Md Azizul Islam and AFMC Commandant Major General AKM Mostafa Kamal Pasha also spoke on the occasion.

Medical Specialist and Endocrinologist Lt Col Nasir Uddin Ahmed conducted the programme.
