A suspected drug smuggler was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar on Sunday.

However, the identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The BGB members also recovered a locally-made gun, 100000 Yaba tablets from the spot.      The gunfight took place in Sluice Gate-7 area in Hoyaikhong Union around 3:00am, said BGB Battalion-2 Commander Lt Col Mohammad Foysal Hasan Khan.

After the gunfight, the force members found one of the smugglers with bullet wounds and sent him to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead, the BGB official said.
