Police arrested three men, as they got into a sub-branch of International Finance Investment and Commerce Bank Limited (IFIC Bank) by breaking a wall in order to steal money early on Saturday.

The trio is Riyad, Mahmud and Rubel. One of them was caught on the scene while two others from a slum in Banani.

An official of the bank, who wishes to remain anonymous, said when the three broke into the sub-branch located in the capital’s Gulshan-Badda Link Road, security guards caught them in the act and managed to grab one of them. Later, he was turned in to police.

On the other hand, two others were apprehended from the slum, the bank officer said, adding that they filed a case against the arrestees at Badda Police Station on Saturday night.

When contacted, Mohammad Abu Sayed Mia, inspector (investigation) of Badda Police Station, confirmed it.

Officer-in-charge Abul Kalam Azad said that the arrestees had long been planning to rob the bank.
