4 more die, 223 cases detected

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recorded four deaths and 223 cases in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.

The daily coronavirus infection rate has remained below two percent for the last few weeks. Some 1.14 percent infection rate was reported on Sunday.

For the 41 consecutive days, the country reported daily positivity rate below three percent. The infection rate was below four percent for 48 days in a row and below five percent for the last 55 consecutive days.

The number of daily cases was reported below 500 for the last 32 days in a row.

The number of total infections has risen to 15,72,501 with the overall positivity rate 14.84 percent. Some 19,517 samples were tested in the last 24 hours to detect the infection cases.

The national death toll has increased to 27,922 with a case fatality rate of 1.78 percent. The number of death remains below 10 for the last 28 consecutive days.

At the same time, the recovery rate continued to improve in the country reaching 97.71 percent with the recuperation of a good number of Covid-19 patients every day.

Some 212 more Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the total number of recoveries to 15,36,515.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.

Meanwhile, addressing health bulletin of the DGHS, its spokesperson Prof Dr Nazmul Islam said the coronavirus infection is now in declining trend in the country.

He urged the countrymen to receive the vaccine and maintain health guidelines to keep the declining trend of infection.

Mentioning that the coroanvirus situation is in declining trend for last around one month, Nazmul Islam said the situation is now stable here.
