Pakistan national cricket team will arrive in Dhaka today to play three T20 internationals and two Tests against hosts Bangladesh, scheduled to start on November 19 in Mirpur.

Pakistan, who were strong candidates to play in the final of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup, were previously scheduled to arrive in Dhaka from the UAE on November 16.

As they lost their semifinal encounter against Australia on Thursday, the tourists rescheduled their arrival date and will land in the capital today.

The remaining two T20Is will also be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on November 20 and 22 respectively while the two-match Test series opener at the Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium will begin on November 26.

The second Test will be played in Mirpur from December 4.

The three T20 internationals will kickoff at 2:00pm (BST) while the two Tests start at 10:00am.  As there will be no room quarantine in place for the Pakistan series, the tourists can able to hit the ground from Sunday subject to their corona test result.

“They will give covid test tomorrow (today) after arriving at the hotel and we are expecting to get the result within 12 hours. If they are negative they will be able to take part in practice, training gym and other activities,’ a member of the BCB medical unit told The Daily Sun on Friday.

A BCB official said that there will be a relaxed bio-bubble in place during the home series against Pakistan that will also mark the arrival of fans in the gallery for the first time since the home series against Zimbabwe in February-March last year. The BCB didn’t allow any fans to enter in the stadiums to watch live matches since the Covid-19 outbreak and they hosted their last four international series against West Indies, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand without any fans in the gallery.

“We are not calling it bio-bubble this time. We are following MEE (Managed Event Environment) that was designed by the ICC recently,” said the official. “Bio-bubble is very restricted but this time it will be slightly relaxed as we are trying to manage (keeping it bio-secured) only those places that will be used,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo arrived in Dhaka on Friday while other coaches also checked in the hotel before and after his arrival ahead of the series.

Bangladesh are expected to start their preparation with the probables for the series in Mirpur from today.

Bangladesh T20 skipper Mahmudullah and batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the opening day’s training session as they are still in the UAE and will arrive in Dhaka today.

Bangladesh head coach Domingo is expected to sit with the national selection panel and new team leader Khaled Mahmud in a selection meeting at the SBNS today.

It was learnt that the BCB is eyeing to start the main camp with 18 to 20 cricketers as they are planning to play intra-squad practice games before they start their campaign against the tourists.

A member of the selection panel told The Daily Sun on Friday that the members of the Bangladesh team are expected to check-in at the hotel on November 16 and they are expected to announce the team before it.
