Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed is unlikely to take part in the upcoming Lanka Premier League due to national commitment.
Five Bangladeshi cricketers including Taskin were recently picked for the second edition of LPL that will be held on December 5-23 this year.
However, Bangladesh Test squad is expected to fly for New Zealand on December 10 to play two Test matches scheduled in the same month and Taskin is likely to be in that touring party. “National commitment is the first priority so he (Taskin) is unlikely to take part in LPL,” BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury told The Daily Sun on Wednesday.
Nizamuddin also informed that they are yet to take any decision regarding the other four cricketers as they are expected to host Bangladesh Cricket League, the country’s franchise-based first-class tournament in that time.
BCL, which was abandoned last season due to corona, is scheduled to be played from the first week of December.
“It’s very difficult to make a comment (on the other four cricketers) at this point of time and this is a policy based decision,” he said.
“We also have to consider a lot of things like our relationship with the board and issues related to players’ release,” he added.
