151 more dengue patients hospitalised

A total of 151 patients with dengue fever were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours till Monday morning.

Of them, only 48 patients were hospitalised outside the capital.

With no fresh death reported, the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease this year stood at 95, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the deaths, 12 have died in July, 34 in August, 23 in September, 22 in October and 4 in the current month, the health directorate data added.

However, unofficial sources from different hospitals said around 114 people with dengue fever died across the country this year.

This year, a total of 24,796 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country. Although most of the patients have so far been released, 757 are still receiving treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka and outside since January to till November 8, the DGHS report showed.  

In January, some 32 patients were hospitalised, in February nine, in March 13, in April three, in May 43, in June 272, in July 2,286, in August 7,698, in September 7,841, in October 5,458 and in the current month 1141 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country.
