Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) executive president Mohammad Hatem has strongly condemned the attempts to assassinate Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

“The attempt on the life of Bashundhara Group MD is a matter of grave concern for the business community. I strongly condemn and protest the incident,” he said on Monday in a reaction to the recent developments unfolding planned crime.

Police arrested a youth on Friday in connection with the murder plan of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

The business leader smells a rat behind the ulterior motive and urged the government to find out the real culprits behind the killing plan, saying that it is the government’s duty as well.

“Investment and employment will be at stake in the country if there is no security of businessmen’s life and property,” he warned.

He said Sayem Sobhan Anvir has created a lot of jobs across the country and made an immense contribution to flourishing the country’s economy.

Hatem thinks that issuing threats to Bashundhara MD and the plan to kill him is not a deed of petty hooligans.

“Definitely a vested quarter might be involved in the incident. The perpetrators must be identified and punished severely,” he added.
