138 more hospitalised with dengue

A total of 138 new patients were hospitalised with dengue fever in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday.

With no fresh death during the period, the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease this year remained unchanged at 95, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Out of total 24,518 infected, 863 were diagnosed with dengue during the running month. Among the total infected, 3,598 are from outside Dhaka.

DGHS data shows that at least 5,458 were hospitalised in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June while 43 were infected in May and the rest are from January to April.

The DGHS said 95 people have died of dengue infection in the country this year. Twelve people died in July while 34 have died in August and 23 in September, 22 in October and four in November so far.

Among the deaths, 87 have died in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram division, Khulna and Mymensingh divisions and one each in Rajshahi and Barishal.
