Youth ‘kills self’ in frustration

A youth has allegedly committed suicide in frustration of not getting a job despite several attempts.

The deceased identified as Rajib Chakrabarti, 32, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at their residence at Mayakanan in Sabujbagh of the capital on Friday night.

Abir Hossain, sub-inspector (SI) of Sobujbagh Police Station, said being informed, a team of police went to their residence No 29 and found him hanging from a ceiling fan in a room around 11:00pm.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he said.

He also said family members of the deceased told police that Rajib killed self as he was frustrated for not getting a job.

But, the reason behind the death will be cleared after getting the autopsy report, said the SI.

Rajesh Chakrabarti, brother of the victim, said, “After passing Master’s, my brother was doing tuition. He was trying to get a job, but failed. His age limit for government job ended two years ago. He was frustrated.”

“After returning from tuition on Friday night, he entered his bedroom and locked its door from the inside. He was called to have dinner, but did not respond. Later, we through the door’s tiny vacant point saw him hanging from a ceiling fan,” he said.

We informed police of the matter and they broke the door open and recovered his body, he said.
