Bangladesh has reported one death from coronavirus over the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, lowest single-day tally in over 18 months.
Earlier, one Covid-19 patient died in the country on May 5, 2020.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 27,891 and the death rate stands at 1.78 percent, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A total of 13,072 samples were tested across the country and at least 154 new infections were recorded in this period, taking the total number of people infected to 15,70,835.
The current positivity rate is 1.18 percent while the overall positivity rate stands at 15.02 percent, said the DGHS statement.
It also mentioned that at least 157 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,34,635 and the recovery rate is 97.70 percent.
The country’s maiden cases were reported on March 8 last year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
