‘Withdraw fuel price hike’

Popular News

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Friday condemned the price hike of fuel and LPG, demanding withdrawal of the decision immediately.

“I’m strongly protesting against the price hike of kerosene, diesel, furnace oil and LPG and demanding withdrawal of the decision immediately,” said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a written statement.

Mentioning that the incumbent Awami League government has been increasing prices of electricity, gas, fuel and essential commodities since the party assumed power, he said the latest price hike will create a ‘chain reaction’ to economy of the country. Fakhrul said rising prices of diesel, kerosene and LP gas will increase inflationary pressures on public life as well as the overall cost of irrigation, transport will increase unbearably.

The BNP secretary general said there will be no end to misery of the public as rising commodity prices will have a negative impact on the economy and middle and low-income people will suffer.

“In fact, the anti-people Awami League government considers the people as enemies. The price of fuel has been reduced in India while the price has been doubled in Bangladesh so that the ruling party can steal people's money and smuggle them abroad as before,” he added.

Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the current government has hiked the prices of fuel and LPG as it has no accountability to the people of the country.
