Bangladesh pavilion at Busan International Seafood & Fisheries EXPO- 2021 was appreciated by a lot of visitors for its attractive decoration and displaying varieties of local and sea fishes.    

The Embassy of Bangladesh in South Korea participated in the 3-day international expo to promote Bangladesh’s seafood and fisheries.

The most important seafood and fisheries fair of the Republic of Korea was held from November 3 to 5 at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) in the Korea’s Commercial city-Busan with the slogan “Future of Seafood & Fisheries”.

During the event, embassy officials have disseminated information on various Bangladeshi fishes like Hilsa, Rohu, Pangasius, Tilapia, Sting Catfish/Shing, Black Tiger Shrimp, Freshwater Prawn/Golda, Pink Shrimp, Brown/Harina Shrimp, Mud Crab/Mangrove Crab, Eel Fish, Cuttle fish, Squid, Mackere, Chines Pomfret, Silver Pomfret, Sardine, Leather jack, Ribbon Fish/Churi, Skipjack Tuna, King Fish, Halibut etc.

The visitors were provided with brochures and leaflets on Bangladeshi fishes, fisheries sector and the relevant fisheries organisations and agencies.

Approximately 100 Koreans and nationals from other countries visited the Bangladesh pavilion daily during the expo to know the marketing formalities of Bangladesh and showed keen interest in buying the fish products. 

They were particularly interested in Pangasius Fish, Tilapia Fish, Black Tiger Shrimp, Freshwater Prawn/Golda, Pink Shrimp, Brown/Harina Shrimp, Mud/Mangrove Crab, Eel Fish, Cuttlefish, Squid, Mackerel and Ribbon/Churi Fish.

The fair was an ideal opportunity to promote Bangladeshi fish and seafood to foreign importers from various countries, including Korea, said a press release of the Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul.

It is expected that Bangladesh Embassy’s participation in the Busan expo will help enhance trade relations with Korea and other countries in the coming days. 

The event was jointly organised by Busan Metropolitan City, Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO), National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives and Korea Fishery Trade Association.

This year, organisations from 14 countries, including Korea, took part in the expo and displayed their frozen, chilled, fish meat, salted, processed seaweed, seafood items through 551 booths while there were 36 foreign booths 36 and 515 Korean stalls. 

Earlier on November 3, Deputy Mayor of Busan City Kim YoonIll along with other dignitaries, organisers and guests inaugurated the expo and visited the stalls.
