Raushan Ershad, the leader of the opposition in parliament, has been taken to Bangkok in Thailand for her better medical treatment.

Raushan, also chief patron of the main opposition in parliament Jatiya Party, was undergoing treatment    at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

She was taken to Bamrungrad Hospital in Bangkok by HS-EMG (air ambulance) on Friday afternoon from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, the party sources said.

Her son Rahgir Al Mahi Ershad alias Saad Ershad urged the countrymen to pray for her quick recovery.

“Raushan Ershad has been undergoing treatment at CMH for long. Her blood pressure and heartbeat remain well but she is now almost in coma,” Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader said on October 28.

“The physicians said Raushan Ershad has been suffering from old age complications,” he said.

The party sources said Raushan Ershad, the widow of late Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad, has been suffering from different health complications for a long time.

She was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the CMH at night on October 15 as she went there for a regular health check-up and was diagnosed with increasing amount of carbon dioxide in the lungs.

Earlier on April 29, she was admitted to the CMH after she fell ill. During the time, she took medical treatment at the hospital for 24 days and then returned home.
