Special vaccination week begins today

Special coronavirus vaccination campaign week will start today in community clinics across the country aiming to reach the jab to the marginal people.

“The special vaccination campaign week will be held in every community clinics for one day across the country from November 6 to 12,” Dr. Md. Shamsul Haque, Line Director (MNC & AH) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said at a virtual press conference on Friday.

Mentioning that there are around 13,000 community clinics in the country, Shamsul Haque said around 500 coronavirus vaccines will be administered in each community clinic during the campaign.

People aged 18 years and above will get the vaccine in the community clinics in their respective areas. Only those, who have completed registration online, will get the vaccine, he said.

“The first dose of Sinopharm vaccine will be administered in the weeklong campaign while the second dose will be administered same time in the next month. Our target of this vaccination campaign is to reach the jab to marginal level people,” the DGHS official said.

He said they have already held meeting virtually with Civil Surgeons and Upazila Health & Family Planning Officers (UHFPOs) and have given necessary instructions about the vaccination campaign.

“We have already sent vaccines and syringes across the country to conduct the campaign. The local authority will run the inoculation as per their local capacity in convenient day during the week,” Shamsul Haque said.

Mentioning that the vaccine will be administered among people in ward level this time, he said women and old age people will get priority to get the vaccine during the campaign.
