Shakib nominated for ICC’s monthly award

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for October following his vital contribution in the qualifying stage of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

Pakistan’s big hitter Asif Ali and Namibia all-rounder David Wiese are the other two nominees who will be challenging Shakib for the award as the International Cricket Council on Thursday announced the name of the nominees in both men’s and women’s categories.

Shakib, who had previously won ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2021, was the best performer for Bangladesh in the qualifying stage but he picked up a hamstring injury while playing their third Super 12 match and it ruled him out from the tournament.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s Mary-Anne Musonda and Ireland duo Laura Delany and Gaby Lewis have been nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award.
