Begum Nurjahan Motaleb, former DGM of BSCIC and vice-president of Barishal Women’s Club, passed away in a city hospital on Wednesday. She was 83.

She was suffering from different old age related complications. She was laid to eternal rest at Barishal Muslim Graveyard following her namaz-e-janaza.

She was the founding headmistress of Sher-e-Bangla Primary School in Barishal.

Begum Nurjahan Motaleb, who was given the ‘Ratnagarbha Award’, received her higher education from the United Kingdom and made significant contributions to social service.
