Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman GM Quader has lambasted the government for increase in fuel price, terming it ‘irrational’.
“Fuel price has illogically been hiked. The cost of living will increase simultaneously with the rise in cost of production and transportation of goods due to the price hike of fuel,” he said.
He said already, people’s lives have become unbearable due to increase in the prices of commodities and the fuel price hike will make people's lives more difficult.
“In this situation, if the government runs the country with a business attitude, the suffering of the people will increase. The government should run the state with the attitude of giving service to people,” GM Quader added.
He urged the government to keep the fuel price tolerable even by giving subsidy in this sector.
Mentioning that Bangladesh has ranked 124th out of 139 countries across the world in the rule of law index, the deputy leader of the opposition in parliament said, “We are lagging behind in various international indices, which is very sad.”
Claiming that the JP is still active in politics of the country even staying away from the state power for 31 years, he said the country’s people want to see the party in power again.
