Kali Puja, the second biggest festival of the Hindu community, will be celebrated today across the country amid religious solemnity.

The festival will be observed following the health guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

During the Kali Puja, huge marquees are erected across the country and temples dedicated to the goddess are cleaned and decorated.

At the night of the very Puja, also called Deepabali (the festival of lights), the Hindu community will light earthen lamps (Pradeep) at their houses and crematoriums in memory of departed ancestors.

However, the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad called for a boycott of the Deepabali festivities during the Kali Puja protesting the recent attacks on Hindu temples, Puja venues, houses and shops across the country.
