BB begins inquiry into e-commerce scams

Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has begun an inquiry into two dozen e-commerce companies and related individuals on allegations of anomalies in financial transactions.

“We forwarded the lists to Bangladesh Bank on Monday. They will submit a report on November 9,” AHM Shafiquzzaman, additional secretary of Ministry of Commerce, told the Daily Sun on Wednesday. The companies and individuals are: Daraz Bangladesh and, PriyoShop and its founder Asikul Alam Khan, Bangladesh Deal and its officials Farzana Kabir Ishita and Fida Mahmud Ashfaq, Infinity Marketing and its chairman Sirajul Islam, Walmartbd and its managing director Sheikh Farid Ahmed, Alifworld and its managing director Rashedul Islam Rayon,  directors Mizanur Rahman, Sazzad and Saif.

The list also includes Aimsbd and its managing director Ashequl Islam Tanjil, chairman Kaysar Habib, Director Abdur Rauf Barek, Ahnaf Tahmid Nahiyan and Kamruzzaman, Annex Worldwide and its chairman Mohammad Ali Rimon, managing director Mohammad Julfiquer Ali, director Md Mofazzel Hossain and Md Firoz Alam and Bright Hass proprietor Md Salekin, Swadhin and its directors Shadman Y, Shamira and Dedrick Van Ommeren, Aakash Neel and its managing director Mashiur Rahman, director Iftekharuzzaman Roni and Gadgetmart and its proprietor Harun or Rashid. and its CEO Khan Imran Rasel, directors Shamim Reza, Irfan Hossain, Junayed Hossain, Rahat Hossain Chowdhury and Sheikh Ahmed, Asthar Prothik and its proprietor Rusho Talukder, TikiTiki, ShopUp, E-Loan,, E-Shop India, BDLike, Sun Tune, Chalantika, Supom Product and New Navana are also under inquiry.

After receiving the report from Bangladesh Bank, Commerce Ministry will send it to Cabinet Division by November 11.
