Leaders and activists of Awami League’s Alowakhowa Union Parishad unit under Atwari upazila in Panchagarh have urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to cancel the nomination of UP chairman candidate Md Mojakkarul Alam Kochi for his alleged involvement in corruption and violation of the party discipline.
On behalf of local Awami League leaders and people of the area, Shamsuzzoha, President of Awami League’s Alowakhowa Union Parishad unit, has sent an application to the Local Government Election Nomination Board Chairman Sheikh Hasina recently with a call to cancel his candidature.
“There are a lot of allegations against him (Mojakkarul), including stealing rice allocated for destitute people by the government, taking bribe in the name of allotting government’s homes to the homeless and embezzlement of Eid bonus given by the Prime Minister.”
He also alleged that Mojakkarul’s family members are supporter of the opposition BNP and his sister Faratun Nahar is the convener of Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal of Thakurgaon district unit.
“Mojakkarul is actually supporter of BNP and Jamaat in the area. That’s why local Awami League leaders never accept such a chairman candidate,” Shamsuzzoha said.
He further said the Alowakhowa Union Parishad unit of Awami League has sent a letter to upazila and district offices of the party to nominate upazila Matsyajibi League convener Md Kamruzzaman as the chairman candidate.
