Three tons on third day

Shadman Islam, Farhad Hossain and Amite Hasan struck a hundred each while leg-spinner Raihanuddin Chowdhury claimed a maiden five-wicket haul during their respective matches on the penultimate day of the third round of the National Cricket League on Tuesday. National opener Shadman scored 132 off 228 balls while Sharifullah (75), Munim Shahriar (59) and Aminul Islam Biplob (50 not out) all scored a fifty each as Dhaka Metro made 407-8 replying to Chattogram Division’s first innings total of 445-9d at the BKSP.

In the other tier-2 match, Farhad struck an unbeaten 108 off 267 balls while Sunzamul Islam made 71 as Rajshahi Division scored 441 runs in their first innings to get a 37-run lead over Barishal Division in Cox’s Bazar. Barishal’s Monir Hossain finished with 5-107.

Barishal then made 82-2 at stumps of the third day’s play as both the tier-2 matches were heading towards draw.

Meanwhile, Raihanuddin finished with 6-96 as he helped Khulna Division bowling Dhaka Division all out for 231 runs and forced a follow-on in a tier-2 match in Sylhet.

Abdul Mazid and Saif Hassan made 52 each for Dhaka. Dhaka finished the day at 46-1 as they were still trailing Khulna by 142 runs. Sylhet Division batsman Amite Hasan struck an unbeaten 147 off 321 balls -- his second first-class ton – to help his side finish the day at 258-7 in their second innings and take a 105-run lead over Rangpur Division in the other tier-1 match in Sylhet.
