The medical board for ailing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia started her treatment on the basis of her biopsy report.

“Her (Khaleda’s) biopsy report has already come to the medical board. Her treatment has started accordingly,” her personal physician Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain told the Daily Sun.

Dr AZM Zahid also said Khaleda’s biopsy report has been sent abroad for further review.

The medical board got the BNP chief’s biopsy report on Sunday, according to sources close to her physicians.

Khaleda Zia is now doing better than she was 4-5 days back, Dr AZM Zahid said and urged people of the country to pray for her early recovery.

Asked about the biopsy report, he, however, declined to disclose it. BNP sources said Khaleda’s biopsy report has been sent to the physicians in the US and the UK to confirm her real health condition.

Khaleda is now undergoing treatment at a cabin of Evercare Hospital in the capital. She was admitted to the hospital with fever and some other health complications on October 12.

She underwent a biopsy at the hospital on October 25 as she has a small lump in one part of her body.

On April 27, Khaleda was admitted to Evercare Hospital with coronavirus infections. She received treatment there until June 19 for post-corona complications and some other health problems.

The BNP chief has also been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, ophthalmological and dental complications. Khaleda’s family applied to the government twice in May and August, seeking permission to take her abroad for better treatment, but the government turned it down, saying there is no scope for a convict to avail of such an advantage.
