National Youth Day observed in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT: The National Youth Day-2021 was celebrated in the district as elsewhere in the country on Monday with the aim of building ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

Marking the day, district administration and the Department of Youth Development (DYD) chalked out elaborate programmes in the district. 

In the morning, anti-militancy public awareness discussion was held in the hall room of the youth building (Jubo Bhaban) here with deputy director of DYD Md Matiar Rahman in the chair. 

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Shariful Islam addressed the discussion as the chief guest.

Superintendent of Police Mashum Ahmed Bhuiyan, District Council Chairman and District Awami League President Md Arifur Rahman Rocket, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman SM Solaiman Ali, District Awami League General Secretary Md Zakir Hossain Mandal, Joypurhat Municipality Mayor Mostafizur Rahman, among others, spoke at the meeting. 

They said importance should be given on involving the unemployed youths in various income-generation activities for protecting them from drug addiction, militancy and other anti-social activities.
