Classical music expert Alimur Rahman Khan passes away

Renowned classical music expert and Sufi scholar Alimur Rahman Khan passed away at his Gulshan residence in the capital on Monday.  He was 86. 

He was born in 1935 in the Baliya Zamidar family of Manikganj.   

Alimur had been suffering from old-age complications. He left behind two daughters and a son. One of his daughters Runa Khan is the founder and executive director of Friendship, an international NGO and another one is Barrister Ayesha Taashin Khan. His son Farid Khan is residing in Canada.

Throughout his life, Alimur has collaborated with various organisations for the welfare of the people and society. Government officials, institutions and well-wishers both home and abroad expressed grief over his death.

His Namaz e Janaza was held at the Gulshan Azad Mosque after Asar prayers. He was laid to rest next to his mother’s grave at the Banani Graveyard.
