A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to national cricketer Nasir Hossain, his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi and mother-in-law Sumi Akhter in a case filed over his ‘illegal marriage’.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order after the three accused surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail in the case.

The same court on September 30, summoned the three accused to appear before the court on October 31 following a petition filed by plaintiff’s lawyer seeking arrest warrant against the accused in the case.

Earlier, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted a probe report before the court accusing Nasir, Tamima and Sumi terming the couple’s marriage ‘illegal’.

PIB said in the probe report that the marriage between Nasir and Tamima is illegal as she is still the wife of businessman Rakib Hasan. Tamima allegedly got married to cricketer Nasir without divorcing her husband Rakib Hasan, said the report adding that she made a fake divorce notice and published it in different media.
