Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal is eyeing to make a comeback to competitive cricket through the ongoing National Cricket League as he is expected to play the fourth round match slated from November 7 for Chattoram Division.

“I’m eyeing to play the fourth round of NCL,” Tamim confirmed to The Daily Sun on Saturday.

“I’ve not yet (recovered from the thumb injury) as I have completed three weeks of rehabilitation. There is one more week to go before I start my batting. The doctor will review my condition tomorrow (October 31) and will have a better idea,” he added.

Tamim, who made himself unavailable from the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup, earlier took part in the Everest Premier League in Nepal after recovering from his knee injury.

However, the southpaw suffered a fresh injury blow as he fractured his left thumb during the tournament and was ruled out from the EPL.

The 32-year old previously played an NCL match back in October 2019 against Dhaka Metropolis.

Meanwhile, the third round of NCL will get underway today in four different venues of the country.
