At least seven people were killed and 17 others injured in several road accidents across the country on Friday and Thursday.

Our correspondent from Chattogram reports, a woman was killed in a road accident when a truck hit her at Raozan upazila in the district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Rani Akter, 62, wife of Md Yusuf of Purba Gujara union under the upazila.

Sources said that the accident took place when a truck hit Rani while she was crossing the Chattogram-Kaptai Road in Kalu Morar Tek area at around 7:00am, which left the woman fatally hurt.

She was whisked off to local hospital where doctors pronounced her dead, said In-charge Joynal Abedin of Noapara police outpost. They detained the truck driver in this connection, he said.

In Magura, at least two people were killed and 15 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Saitrish area on the Magura-Jhenaidah highway on Friday afternoon, reports UNB.

One of the deceased has been identified as Abul Kashem, son of Akbar Mollah of Hazrapur village. The other could not be identified immediately.

According to the fire service and locals, a local bus of Janata Paribahan collided head-on with a truck loaded with vegetables coming from the opposite direction on its way from Magura to Jhenaidah at around 3pm.

After the accident both the bus and the truck fell into a road-side ditch leaving two dead. The injured were taken to Magura Sadar Hospital. The vehicles have been seized, and a case has been filed at Magura Police Station in this regard, said officer-in-charge of the station Monjurul Alam.

In Brahmanbaria, two boys were killed in two separate road accident in the municipality area. The deceased were identified as Antor Mia, 15, hailed from Netrakona district and Shihab, 11, an inhabitant in the municipality area, reports BSS.  

Antor Mia was killed as a passenger bus crushed his auto rickshaw at around 9 am in Kowtowali Thana area on Friday while Shihab was killed when an auto rickshaw overturned at around 7:30 pm in Datiara area on Thursday night.

Shihab was taken to Brahmanbaria General Hospital where the doctor declared him dead. 

In Sylhet, two people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a private car and a CNG-run auto rickshaw on Sylhet-Tamabil highway at Jaintapur in Sylhet on Friday, reports UNB.

The deceased were identified as auto rickshaw driver Akhter Hossain of Krishnapur village under Golapganj upazila and its passenger Abdus Shukur, 49, of Hajipur village under the same upazila.
