Finance and planning secretary of the Awami League Waseqa Ayesha Khan has urged that the women will have to unite to build the nation so the country does not lag behind.

“We all including women have to come forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina so that the country does not lag behind any more,” she said.

Waseqa, chairman of standing committee on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, came up with the remarks while addressing the inaugural programme of Ullapara Upazila Mohila Awami League Triennial Council in Sirajganj district on Friday.

In her speech, Waseqa Ayesha Khan lauded the premier for encouraging women empowerment and said the present government has made arrangements for information technology based training along with timely multi-faceted steps for the advancement of women.

Besides, the government has also implemented many more initiatives establishing community clinics to ensure the safety of women, children and maternal health, she added.

With Ullapara Upazila Mohila Awami League President Kamrunnahar Alo in the chair, the programme was addressed, among others, by local lawmaker Tanveer Imam.

Ullapara Upazila Mohila Awami League General Secretary Ribli Islam Kobita conducted the event.
