Stocks on Thursday witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 50.47 points up at 7,062.36. But, the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 5.42 points down at 2,638.91 and the Shariah DSES closed the day with 2.04 point down at 1,479.39.
The day's trade value at DSE increased to Taka 17244.81 million from Wednesday's Taka 14972.58 million and the daily trade also rose to 44.95 crore share from 36.43 crore share of the previous session.
The major gaining issues were HFL, Malek Spinning, ARGONDENIM, Tosrifa and HRTEX.
The major losing companies were OIMEX, KPPL, Style Craft, Meghna Pet and Savar EFR.
Beximco topped the turnover list followed by IFIC, Malek Spinning, Orion Pharma and Saif Power.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 175.81 points down at 20,628.91.
